Saturday, August 6th, 1988: Baltimore fans will be disappointed to learn that Gary Redus suffered back soreness while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Baltimore Orioles manager that Redus was expected to miss one week, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the left fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
In 53 games this season Redus has batted at a .255 pace with 48 hits and 4 home runs. |
 | Higuera Pitches Milwaukee to Shutout Victory
Wednesday, August 3rd, 1988: The Milwaukee Brewers breezed to victory today behind the shutout pitching of Teddy Higuera. He surrendered no runs, gave up 3 hits and finished the game with no walks and 6 strikeouts. The Brewers won the game 3-0.
Thus far this season, Higuera has worked 181.1 innings with 157 strikeouts en route to a 12-6 record and a 2.53 ERA. |
